Hyundai Donates Over $10 Million to Battle Childhood Cancer

Caring auto brand Hyundai is dedicated to aiding those in need. One of its latest community campaigns is in partnership with the University of California, Irvine campus, which recently hosted a 5k charity run as part of Hyundai Motor America's Hope on Wheels campaign, which is targeted at raising funding for pediatric cancer research. This event was the first of several that while continue into the month of September, which has been named National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

Gary Micallef, Chairman of the Hyundai Hope On Wheels Board of Directors, explains the importance of the program, stating, "In the 14 years we've been a part of this fight to help children fight cancer, we've seen significant advancements in treatments. We hope our efforts in September can bring greater awareness for this cause and increase the amount of funds we can provide researchers."1

This year, the Hope on Wheels campaign plans to donate over $10.25 million in grants to children's hospitals across the U.S. These Hyundai Hope Grants amount to $250,000 and will be presented to 41 important researchers in the field. Today, there are over 300 research projects currently in place that are funded by these grants.
